In this column we’ll introduce you only to very best – why, the stuff that goes into our own closets, naturally.  These tried and true basics have passed our high and (sure we’ll admit it) completely arbitrary standards and have not left us wanting – except maybe for more.

Since I’ve returned to Europe, it’s harder and harder for me to take the plunge for items at U.S. department stores because it means I have to pay for international shipping and depending on the store and their mailing service potentially travel to pick up the package at an extremely inconvenient location of the customs office (often an hour drive away). Then I have to pay customs, which can be extremely high. If that wasn’t enough, it’s an incredible hassle to return things internationally. So whenever I did think I just had to have an item imported I stuck to items I knew would fit me, from stores that use Borderfree.

So when the Nordstrom Annual sale rolled around, I knew I was going to get some more colors of the trusted Halogen skirt. After seeing these pumps cleverly styled in a slew of colors with the skirt and several other items at Nordstrom I just couldn’t resist. Since I did own a pair of comfortable heels in a similar height from the same brand, I was sure of which size to order and at least somewhat trusting in their level of comfort.

But I never imagined they would become my favorite pair of heels. They seem to go with everything – and the animal print, while neutral just adds an extra little kick to things. The thin stiletto heel is very feminine and dainty, but the extra heel support helps you stride your way sure-footed. Look out this week, for more ways to style this shoe.
