If you’re anything like us, you’ll have lots of question surrounding the MBA. So on Mondays we’ll discuss anything and everything surrounding the MBA program.
Back when we were applying to business school, apart from deciding where to apply and what to actually put in our essays, one of the questions I was mulling over the most was where to apply when?
Should I hold off on my dream school to get some application practice first? Or should I risk turning down my backup school, only to apply to my dream school and then get a ding? How many schools should I apply to? And when?
Well, I’ll share my strategy, but I’d really like to hear from you guys in the comments. And if you didn’t go to business school, maybe applying to jobs you’ve used similar strategies?
I tried to apply as early in the year as possible, and it just happened that out of the top schools my dream school was first with the deadline. So in order to get some practice in I looked for a backup school with an even earlier deadline and earlier interviews. I was actually fortunate enough that my backup school had a really fast and easy application process, so I could go into my dream school interview with an acceptance letter somewhere else in hand. The piece of mind that brought me was invaluable.
Readers, what’s your strategy?
